Intervention Specialist MSA

FACES is a Syracuse Community Connection’s program designed to provide HIV/AIDS awareness and quality high impact prevention services to communities of color in Onondaga County. FACES is a confidential service providing education and distribution of supplies for people of all ages, cultures, and sexual orientations. The program provides access to HIV testing and follow-up support services

Essential Job Functions

Provide group/individual intervention services by involving a wide range of other service agencies in the area.

Being able to recruit and work with the target population of Men, (MSM), 13 years age to maturity and women aged 36 years to maturity.

Maintain accurate and confidential statistics using HIV/AIDS program reports (internal & external)

Administering HIV Testing to all target populations

Participate in AIDS Institute trainings and conference calls.

Engage in group facilitation and intervention training to ensure competency in implementation.

Create individual client service plans.

Maintain a working knowledge of local and regional social service agencies/health providers.

Help manage the program’s social media campaign to assist in intervention recruitment.

Complete the required paperwork and comply with HIPAA/confidentiality guidelines.

Distribute prevention supplies.

Attending meetings, workshops, and training seminars as required.

Facilitate and engage target populations in dialogue conversations on better sexual choices regarding their sexual activities, behaviors, and thinking.

All employees must be able to set up, follow up, and maintain outreach collaborations and partnerships in a professional manner

Abide by a strict code of confidentiality in all matters related to the program.

Support and assist in all agencies-sponsored programs and events, as required.

Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including but not limited to community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.

Collect and compile outreach, education, and group/individual level intervention data and enter the AIRS data reporting system.

Assist in the coordination to broaden awareness of AIDS/HIV/HEP C/STD/Prep prevention services with health partners and community collaborators.

Education and Experience

A minimum High School Diploma with at least 3 years experience in the Human Service field, Prefer an Associate degree or at least 1 year of work experience in Human Services

Experience working in underprivileged or vulnerable communities is required. Experience with outreach and education is strongly encouraged.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours / week)

Pay Range $19.00 – $21.00 hourly

Finance Manager

General Summary The Finance Manager collaborates with the CEO and COO to ensure proper stewardship of grants and finance in support of the mission of Syracuse Community Connections (SCC). This position is responsible for managing finance and grant, program and agency budgets, financial forecasting, and working with community partners.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Grants & Finances

· Responsible for financial management, reporting and compliance of grants and finance

· Manages Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as well as other financial duties

· Communicates and works with COO who is responsible for program performance reporting

· Collaborates with CEO on the management of finances and funding sources

Accountability

· Works in partnership with CEO to ensure financial accountability and long-term stability

· Collaborates with SCC’s accounting firm to assist CEO in managing and reporting finances

· Assists the CEO in budgeting and ongoing management of SCC finances

Reporting

· Collaborates with CEO and SCC’s accounting firm in preparing financial reporting for the Board of Directors

· Collaborates with COO and CEO in preparing financial reporting for funders.

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business OR bookkeeping, business, or accounting experience required

· Human Services/Non-Profit experience preferred

· 1-3 years experience in grant funding preferred

· Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

· Detail-oriented and exact, especially with finance numbers required

· Ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing required.

· Professional demeanor, punctuality, and discretion/confidentiality required

This is a Full-time Non-Exempt position

Annual salary range $50,000 – $55,000

Youth Prevention Specialist

Under the supervision of the Director of Youth and Family Services, the Prevention Specialist works with a diverse group of youth ages 4-19 in after-school, school break, and summer programs. The program is based on the eight essential features of positive youth development: Physical and Psychological Safety, Appropriate Structure, Supportive Relationships, Opportunities to Belong, Positive Social Norms, Support for Efficacy and Mattering, Opportunities for Skill Building, and Integration of Family, School, and Community Efforts. The Prevention Specialist implements and supervises activities in four core areas: Academic Enrichment, Career Development, Cultural Enrichment, and Personal Development & Wellness. The wellness component includes alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse prevention among other traditional wellness focuses. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM, with occasional Saturdays for events. During school breaks, the hours remain 10 AM to 6 PM. Summer camp runs from July 8 to August 2, 2024, from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Essential Job Functions

· Coordinate, develop, and execute child, youth and adolescent substance abuse prevention plan

· Conduct team activities conducive for both staff and participants to improve skills and increase education.

· Implement OASAS accepted Evidence-Based Programs (EBP) and document in the database (WITNYS) to show program outcomes.

· Conduct prevention education presentations onsite and in the community.

· Develop culturally and age-appropriate education and outreach materials.

· Provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse prevention through participation in health fairs and community forums.

· Supervise a group of students in an instructional setting, maintaining high standards for behavior and safety.

· Provide homework assistance, academic and cultural enrichment, career and personal development and wellness activities.

· Assist in planning and delivering program activities, including discussions, hand-on activities, arts-based activities, community projects, guest speakers, field trips and recreational activities.

· Support individual students in various settings, encouraging full participation in activities and relationship building among students, staff and volunteers.

· Monitor student behavior, reinforce positive behavior, and enforce behavior expectations and document behavior in case notes.

· Serve as a positive role model for students through appropriate dress, speech, attitude and time.

· Abide by a strict code of confidentiality in all matters related to the position.

· Attend meetings, workshops and training seminars as required.

· Complete Pre-SAPTS training within the first 90 days of hire.

· Assist with clerical work, including maintaining accurate sign-in/sigh-out sheets for students and volunteers, snack sheets, individual student reflections and activity attendance sheets.

· Assist in setting up activities and keeping activity sites sanitized, clean and safe for all.

Experience and Education

· Minimum high school diploma or GED required

· Associates degree in Human Services, Substance Abuse Counseling, Social Work or related field preferred

· Three years experience in community-based organizations, substance abuse settings, mental health, or working in school-based and community-based programs

· Prior experience with diverse ethnic, gender, age and cultural groups desired

· Knowledge of substance abuse and addiction curriculum development is advantageous

· Understanding of human behavior and mental processes, beneficial for roles involving behavioral interventions and client support

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HRIS software, email, and Internet research.

· Ability to travel locally between facilities as needed.

· Every substance misuse prevention staff member shall be expected to uphold high ethical standards and be responsible to their service recipients, themselves, and other professionals
