High Impact Prevention Strategy (HIPS)

HIPS – is a Social Networking Strategy (SNS) that builds upon the existing trust among members of a social network. By using SNS, we are able to reach persons with the highest risk, those who live in hard-to-reach communities and who may be infected but unaware of their status, and provide them with HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral (CTR) services. There are four phases of SNS: Recruiter Enlistment; Recruiter Engagement; Recruitment of Network Associate and Counseling, Testing and Referral (CTR).

The CDC estimates that approximately 25 % of people with HIV don’t know they are infected.

Mission HIPS (High Impact Prevention Strategy) Mission is to reach people living with undiagnosed HIV and give them access to HIV Counseling , Testing and Referral (CTR) Service, HIPS can help locate HIV infected individuals who have been lost to care or may need services for their drug use behaviors and STD screening and treatments.
